A lifelong painter, Meredith Fife Day currently maintains a studio in Lowell, Mass., where she was artist-in-residence at the Whistler House Museum of Art from 2003 to 2013. She has exhibited work for almost four decades, including most recently Soprafina Gallery in Boston and group shows in Concord, Framingham, Bedford and Lowell, Mass. In 2010, her work was the subject of a retrospective exhibition at Whistler House Museum’s Parker Gallery. She has also shown her work at Kimball Union Academy, New Hampshire; Wheaton College, Norton, Mass.; and Peterborough Fine Art, New Hampshire. In 2008, she was included in an exhibition of work by former fellows at Moulin a Nef in Auvillar, France, and had a solo show of her work at Middlesex Community College, where she teaches painting. She has had solo exhibitions at Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, Mass., and Emmanuel College in Boston. Her paintings have been selected for numerous invitational shows and national competitions.

The recipient of a Blanche E. Colman Award, Day has been awarded artist-in-residence fellowships at Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in Sweet Briar, Va., and Auvillar, France, and Millay Colony for the Arts in Austerlitz, N.Y. She earned an MFA degree from Boston University after receiving BA and MFA degrees from Louisiana State University in her native Baton Rouge. Day has taught at the universities she attended, as well as at Southwest Missouri University, Springfield. Active in the Lowell arts community, she is a member of the Lowell Art Association, Arts League of Lowell and the Concord Art Association. She is an advocate, consultant and volunteer for children’s educational programs in the visual arts.
